AEN Member Standards
AEN is selective for membership. Every author reflects on the quality of all AEN authors.
Basic Author Information: Basic author information must be complete and include a well-designed website, Amazon page, Goodreads page and social media. Authors not visible to readers will not be found.
Professional Production: All books must leverage professional editors, designers and formatters. Reviews of books with obvious typos will be rejected. Indie publishing is acceptable only when professional editors and designers are used to produce the book.
Ratings & Reviews: AEN looks for authors with 40+ reviews averaging 4.0 or higher. Too few reviews indicates poor audience acceptance or lack of investment by the author to build their audience.
Editorial Reviews and Awards: AEN highly values both professional editorial reviews from industry gold standards such as Kirkus, Book Life, Booktrib, and others. We place a premium on award-winning authors.
Previous Direct Sale Experience: While previous experience at book signing and direct sales is a plus, it is not a requirement.
Authors who do not meet all requirements are open to apply, but AEN reserves the right to evaluate members and deviations from the standard on a case-by-case basis.

Because AEN represents a shared brand and reading experience with the other authors in the booth, we are very selective about membership. We want every single reader to have an excellent reading experience with professional writing, editing, proofing, design, production and presentation. We seek authors with great reviews, a professional web and social media presence.
Selling direct is rewarding but hard work. Many of our authors see sales increases exceeding 200% from previous years. If you are a top-notch author wanting to increase your sales AND profit margins, and build a relationship with your reader - then AEN is YOUR community.
